ARTIST STATEMENT
Ever since I was young, I realized that I perceived the world differently than others. And they were seeing it wrong. This might be why I was drawn to photography as a teenager. (Also, my Dad had some super cool cameras that I wanted to play with.) I needed everyone else to finally see what I saw. To feel what I felt. To be less alone.
The capturing of a moment on film has an undeniable allure to me. Photography's fundamental ability to capture unique points in time and space that can never be replicated has always fascinated me. At the same time, every photograph is a distortion. A photograph can never truly represent a subject as a camera can't perceive the world in the same way we do. Moreover, I've come to realize that it's not that I see the world one way and others see it another, but rather that each person sees the world uniquely. We all have our individual perspectives.
It's my distinctive perspective that I aim to capture on film so that, even if just for a moment, you can see the world through my eyes. I hope you enjoy the view.
