Service Description

Week 1. Introduction to Photography: Understanding Your Camera This class would cover the basics of photography, including camera settings, understanding exposure, and how to compose a great shot. We’ll discuss ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. The goal will be to help the student use the manual mode on their camera.   Week 2. Lighting Essentials: Natural and Artificial Light This class would focus on how to work with different types of light, both natural and artificial. We would cover techniques for softening or intensifying light, using reflectors, and creating mood with lighting.   Week 3. Portrait Photography: Capturing Personality Students will learn how to photograph people, focusing on posing, capturing emotions, and working with different types of lighting to highlight their subject’s best features. This can be a hands on class where participants pair up and take images of their partner.   Week 4. Commercial Product Photography: Making Everyday Objects Shine Ideal for those interested in commercial photography. This class will cover how to photograph products in a way that makes them look appealing and professional, a skill that can be valuable for small business owners or online sellers.   Week 5. Editing Techniques: Bringing Photos to Life In this class, students will learn the basics of photo editing using software like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, both for a desktop and mobile phone for editing on the go. We’ll cover color correction, cropping, and how to enhance images to make them pop.   Instructor: Sara Whitfield  @saraannwhitfield www.studiosaraann.com Sara received a BS in Marketing with an emphasis in Photography from Brigham Young University - Idaho. She is an artist and creator who loves producing beautiful content.   With over ten years of experience, she has collaborated with well-known brands like Crumbl Cookies, Blackstone Products, and Just Ingredients, among others, bringing their products to life through compelling imagery. Her approach to photography is rooted in a love for storytelling and attention to detail.   Beyond working, she loves traveling to new places, discovering treasures while thrift shopping, and watercolor painting!

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees are to be paid before the beginning of each class. A spot in a class is not guaranteed until full tuition and fees are paid. All classes have a minimum and maximum enrollment and Bountiful Davis Art Center reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet the minimum number of students required. Every effort is made to notify those registered of cancellations. Fees for classes canceled by the Art Center will be fully refunded. Classes can be prorated if the student notifies the art center at the time of registration or no later than 3 days before the first class begins. Cancellation/Refund Terms for classes: Classes cancelled by the art center: 100% refund Student cancels within 3 days of first class: $10 fee (Please e-mail kaye@bdac.org for refund, less $10 fee) Student cancels after beginning of first class: No refund
