Abstract Non-Representational Art Course
Beginner Course for students ages 13+
Class Description
In this four-week course you will learn how to use acrylic paint, graphite, acrylic marker and pen. Topics covered include design elements such as proximity, balance, lost and found, and contrast. You will learn “Letting Go” of preconceived ideas of skill or talent where it relates to creating art. The course begins with a conversation about color and ends with a review of student work. This course is for everyone! We are all artistic in our own way. You will leave the course with more confidence and a realization of your own talent. This course is designed for adults or teens. Apron or old shirt Teacher Bio: Gail Budinger Everyone has creative instincts. In other words we are all creators. I use paint, ink, oil pastels, watercolors, graphite, acrylic markers and even spray paint on canvas or paper. I'm not what you might call a natural born artist, but I have learned my craft through classes and practice with the materials. My first experience with art was in middle school. We were given paper and ink and instructions to draw a still life that was set up in front of the room. This exercise sparked something in me that took residence, but remained dormant for many years. Doubt (in myself) was the key reason I did not nourish that spark. Now, I do not listen to the doubter inside me. She is still there, but her voice is not as prominent as it used to be. I love to create art and to teach others to explore with the materials. Art is my personal choice of self-expression and a great platform for relieving stress. AND it is so much fun!
