Often our personal struggles and failures color our self-image in a harsher light than which our loved ones perceive us. Self-Evident is a joint exhibition featuring oil painters (and close friends) Nicole Woodruff and Hilary Swingle as they showcase their identities through a series of self-portraits and juxtapose each body of work with a final portrait painted by the other.
Nicole Woodruff (b.1986) is an American figurative painter living in the state of Utah, where she was born and raised. Nicole is currently represented by D. Anthony Gallery in Wausau, WI. She is a mother of two children and she teaches art at a local High School.
Nicole has been a finalist in National and International exhibitions such a finalist in the 16th Annual Art Renewal Center Salon, the ModPortrait, the International Biennial Portrait Competition receiving an Honorable Mention, and the Annual National Portrait Competition.
Hilary Swingle is an American figurative realist oil painter working in the indirect painting method. Her art has been exhibited in museum and gallery shows internationally and across the United States. She was awarded Juror’s Choice in the 2020 Utah Women Artists Exhibition and recently recognized with honorable mentions in the 2021 Blue Review Art Prize and 2022 Exhibitour, juried by Alyssa Monks.
