This year’s Summerfest at Bountiful Town Square was a vibrant display of creativity, culture, and community, made possible by the incredible talent and dedication of all those involved. From our incredible performers to our tireless volunteers, we extend our gratitude for making it such a memorable occasion. On August 8th, 9th and 10th, our festival grounds buzzed with energy, drawing in crowds to experience the beauty and diversity of art in its many forms.
Main Stage Magic
At the heart of the festival was our Main Stage, the centerpiece of entertainment, where cultural groups and musicians delivered captivating performances. Each act added a unique voice to the festival, celebrating traditions from around the world and bringing our community together. The Main Stage was a gathering place for celtic flute and drum, flamenco guitar, nordic dance demonstrations and, ever colorful, ballet folklorico. Audiences were amazed by grass dances by Echoing Spirit Dancers, joined in keiki hula with Halau Ku Pono I Kamalani, and learned classical Indian dance techniques from ChitraKaavya Dance.
Inspiring Young Minds in the Children’s Art Yard
Summerfest was a family-friendly affair, with the Children’s Art Yard offering hands-on craft activities designed to engage young minds. Families created shadow drawings and ribbon weaving, cut and hung fiesta flags, learned the basics of tie-dye, competed in a coloring contest and topped it all off with a cheek full of face paint and a refreshing Creamies ice cream bar. This space was more than just fun; it was a place where creativity was nurtured, and the seeds of artistic expression were planted in the next generation.
Exploring Artisan Creations
Towne Square was full of activity as festival-goers explored a variety of artisan crafts and unique wares. The art booths were a highlight of the event, offering live wheel-thrown pottery with Bountiful Davis Art Center instructor, Lindsay McBride, hand-woven baskets from African Everything , traditional henna tattoos by Priya Henna Art, breathtaking turquoise jewelry and ornate native beadwork items by Judy and Kendall Mansfield.
Culinary Delights from Food Trucks
No festival is complete without delicious food, and Summerfest’s lineup of local food trucks did not disappoint. Whether you were in the mood for something sweet, savory, or spicy, there was a dish to satisfy. Hawaiian barbecue bowls from The Salty Pineapple, empanadas from Amkha Misky Peruvian Specialties, mango filled donuts from Clark’s Malasadas, and birria street tacos from Where’s Aldo were just a few of the favorites. The food trucks were more than just a place to grab a bite; they were a destination for culinary exploration and enjoyment.
Workshops at BDAC: Diving Deeper
In addition to the park festivities, BDAC offered hands-on workshops designed for adults, providing a deeper dive into the arts and culture. These sessions, led by master artisans, were an opportunity to enhance skills, explore new creative avenues, and immerse oneself in diverse cultural practices. The workshops were a perfect complement to the festival, allowing participants to engage with art on a more personal and profound level. Thank you to our talented instructors for providing 3 engaging workshops: Native American Beading with Rhonda Duvall, Indian Block Printing on Textiles with Jill Saxton Smith, and Chinese Calligraphy and Painting with Salt Lake Eastern Art Club.
A Celebration of Community and Culture
Summerfest was a celebration of our community’s connection to the broader cultural world through the beauty and diversity of artistic traditions. The creativity and enthusiasm have left an indelible mark on Bountiful Davis Art Center and all who experienced the magic of Summerfest.
As we look forward to future events, we carry with us the joy and inspiration that Summerfest brought to our community. Thank you for being a part of this unforgettable celebration of art and culture.
