ERIC FAIRCLOUGH

ISOLATION RITUALS

EXHIBITION ON VIEW:  SEPT 27 - NOV 2, 2019

RECEPTION:  SEPT 27 6 - 8 PM

  • Facebook - Black Circle

"My mind runs at a thousand miles per hour. It never stops. It concerns itself with the most minute details of my everyday life, hyper-focusing on the smallest parts of my day.  It picks apart every conversation and interaction until there’s nothing left to pick. It can be overwhelming and intrusive.

"I began creating as a way of exploring the inner workings of my brain. I want to figure out how to silence the overactive voice in my head. My repetitive process is intense and technical, but also a practice in meditation. While creating these works I am isolated from the outside world. I am devoid of thought. I focus only on my ritual of drawing, carefully following a series of steps to create each work, and clearing space in my head where my conscious can’t enter.

"My art slows you down. It draws you in and keeps you focused on the intricacies and hidden moments beneath the surface. I hope that this body of work can bring clarity to my audience so that they too can block out the rest of the world, even for just a few moments."
