WiCi Song and Dance Company
The WICI Song and Dance Theater was established in 1972 by Magdalena Solarz. Its mission is to preserve and promote Polish Folklore through song, dance and music. We embrace the traditions of our ancestors portrayed through authentic costumes and original choreography. In addition, WICI implements valuable artistic projects that bring satisfaction to our Polish and non-Polish viewers. The beneficiaries of our activities are children, teens and adults. WICI strives to create an open dialogue with our audience, by offering an interesting repertoire and our artistes continue to be solicited to perform around the world. The group has participated in various international festivals and dance contests. WICI has received first place in many competitions, some of which include the International Contest in Rosemont Theater (USA) and the International Krakowiak Festival (Poland). Since 1972, well over 4,000 young people and adults have participated in WICI projects.
An incredible part of WICI is Little WICI which was founded to educate young dancers and to prepare them for the adult groups. Little WICI is currently made up of eight groups, ranging from ages 3 and up. The group who is going to perform during this Festival is the oldest group of Little WICI. This group choreographer, Anna Strojny, leads them for the past 7 years! She is highly certified choreographer and experts in the art of dance. Back in her student days, she was a member of Jawor which is a folk ensemble of Agriculture Academy in Lublin well known in Poland of its perfection and high professionalism. The Little Wici will perform original choreography prepared especially for this occasion by Mrs. Strojny. You will see beautiful original costumes and a very high artistic standard.
