On August 5, 2008 two great masters of traditional folk dance created COMBEIMA FOUNDATION, named in tribute to the canyon formed by the river that crosses the city of Ibague. Since its inception the artistic production has been under the direction of Maestro NADER MOLINA FIGUEROA. With his work he has kept alive customs and folkloric riches of municipality, department and nation that are reflected in the different groups he has led. The Foundation was invited by the mayor to advise different cultural sectors, showing great results with targeted groups. Clearly there is a need for national and international CIRCULAR, groups that provide artistic workshops and address training schools.
Combeima has a variety of excellent interpretive and educational folk groups for children, youth and adults. The youth dance group Dulima Chieftain is composed of youth from various sectors of the municipality IBAGUE Township (Tolima), who belong to CITY FOLK DANCE SCHOOL; Their average age is 16 years to 25 years. In order to ensure wider dissemination of culture Combeima has members from rural and urban areas belonging to levels one and two of SISBEN.
Artistic activity has supported the youth of the town and mitigates their dire experiences living with the scourge of violence. They live among violent illegal armed groups that affect even their family nucleus. The members of the art schools not only keep alive their folk roots, but also help them change their rolls in life. The art schools allow each one to experience a better future.
